"El amor y la acogida siempre serán el núcleo de la vida cristiana, hacia todos y, sobre todo, hacia los miembros de nuestra familia, porque habitualmente son los más cercanos y constituyen también el 'prójimo' que Jesús nos pide amar. En la acogida a los demás está siempre la acogida a Cristo: 'Quien a ustedes recibe, a mí me recibe' (Mt. 11, 40). Debemos ver, pues, a Cristo en aquellos a quienes servimos, y reconocer igualmente a Cristo servidor en quienes nos sirven.
No se trata de amar menos a la familia, sino de amar a todos desde Dios y en Dios. Cuando Dios ocupa el primer lugar, todo lo demás encuentra su justa medida. Además, Cristo no nos manda abandonar a los nuestros, sino que nos pide preferir la verdad de Dios cuando los afectos humanos pretenden apartarnos de ella.
El discípulo auténtico no organiza a Cristo en torno a su vida; organiza su vida en torno a Cristo."
"Love and hospitality will always be at the core of the Christian life, towards everyone and, above all, towards our family members, because they are usually the closest and also constitute the 'neighbor' that Jesus asks us to love. In welcoming others, there is always the welcoming of Christ: 'Whoever receives you receives me' (Mt. 11, 40). Therefore, we must see Christ in those we serve, and also recognize Christ the servant in those who serve us.
It is not a matter of loving our family less, but of loving everyone from God and in God. Christ does not command us to abandon those we love, but to choose God’s truth whenever human affections try to draw us away from it.
The true disciple does not fit Christ into his life; he builds his life around Christ."
